Job Description
This City of Raleigh is looking for a Feld Supervisor to join our Transportation department! This role will oversee the activities of the Concrete Maintenance Unit to include supervision of staff, scheduling, project scoping and estimating, assignment of projects and prioritization projects.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supervision of field staff, work zone traffic control and safety, customer service, budgeting, construction estimating, project management, construction and maintenance of concrete assets such as curb and gutter, sidewalk, curb camps, driveways and medians. Must have knowledge of the design of curb ramps in accordance with ADA/PROWAG guideline
About Us:
The Divisions within Transportation Maintenance are responsible for sidewalk maintenance, curb and gutter maintenance, asphalt maintenance, storm sewer maintenance, right of way mowing, downtown cleaning, resurfacing and pavement preservation, bridge maintenance and private development/utility inspections. The 218 person staff maintains over 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks, over 33,000 curb ramps, 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes and over 32,000 drainage inlets.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Gathers and uses data to implement long range work plans for assigned unit
- Reviews and analyzes data reported in the City’s asset management (Cityworks) system for accuracy and works to improve the data reported in the system
- Recommends and oversees employee training and development
- Prepares and maintains reports, correspondence, records and other documentation
- Oversees daily operations of the volumetric concrete mixer and operator
- Serves as a lead worker for snow/ice response and other natural disasters
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 3 to 5 years’ experience in street maintenance, construction, grounds maintenance, landscaping, stormwater, graffiti mitigation, nuisance abatement, or related workOR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

ADA and Other Requirements:
Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Employees will frequently work in an office or similar indoor environment and in a vehicle.
Work Exposures:
Employees will occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or substances and loud noises.
