The Budget and Management Services Department is seeking a highly skilled Supervisor - Information Technology. This role is a mix of people leadership and hands-on strategy: you’ll shape projects, manage resources, and make sure our systems and tools support the needs of our growing community and organization. You will have an understanding of governmental business practices and have the ability to utilize technology to lead decision making. You will oversee the team that manages our Budget Planning Software (Oracle PBCS), departmental data visualization program (PowerBI), budget document creation tool (Gravity), and PeopleSoft Financials. If you like to find creative ways to use technology to support the decision-making process in an organization, then this is the job for you!
About You:
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys guiding and mentoring a team while working hands-on with technology. You’re someone who can balance people leadership with technical expertise—whether that’s improving IT systems, managing projects, or making sure solutions align with big-picture goals of the organization and community. You thrive in an environment where problem-solving, clear communication, change management, and customer service matter just as much as technical know-how. You also enjoy solving problems and have the technical expertise to build an Excel model while coaching a co-worker through a technical solution. If you are motivated by the chance to shape technology that directly supports a growing city and want to work in a supportive, forward-thinking organization, this role is a good fit for you.
About Us:
The City of Raleigh’s Budget and Management Services Department is a trusted partner in shaping the future of our community through sound financial stewardship, strategic planning, and organizational excellence. We support City Council, leadership, and departments by developing the annual operating and capital budgets, conducting policy and program analysis, and advancing initiatives that align with Raleigh’s Strategic Plan. Our team is collaborative, innovative, and committed to transparency and service. Working in Budget and Management Services means joining a department that values professional growth, teamwork, customer service, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. As part of the City of Raleigh, employees also enjoy competitive benefits, a supportive work culture, and the chance to contribute to projects that shape our community.
