What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Instructor - Specialized Recreation, Quest Adult Day Program Lead position at City of Raleigh North Carolina?
- Assist in the planning and research of programs and activities
- Assist the Recreation Program Coordinator in implementing any protocols and guidelines published by the City of Raleigh, to include facilitation of Eligibility Requirements for participants
- Lead program activities, assisting participants as needed
- Prep, organize, clean/sanitize, and inventory program materials
- Modify activities as needed, or provide reasonable accommodation for participation
- Monitor participants for safety, and address behavior concerns independently
- Drive participants in a city vehicle (minibus) to various community outing locations
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, parents/guardians, and participants
- Document and/or relay accident/incident information to the appropriate staff
- 2 years teaching/implementing recreation programs preferred
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Program planning and group leadership experience
- Specialized training/education and/or certifications related to recreation/leisure activities preferred
- Effective oral, written, and technological communication skills
- Professional, flexible, mature attitude
- This position requires the ability to move around (long walks at times) and be able to lift at least 30lbs
- Minimum age 18 years
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License required
ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity:
The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness,
and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, general laborer, etc.)
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both inside and outside. The worker is exposed to both extreme cold and heat, with temperatures below 32 degrees for periods exceeding one hour and temperatures above 100 degrees for periods exceeding one hour. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
