- Utilizes techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing, assigning and monitoring work
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, installs machinery, chemical feed systems, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, gearboxes, pneumatic/hydraulic systems and other critical equipment in a continuous-running work environment
- Reads and understands mechanical prints and O&M’s
- Observes and listens to mechanical performance to troubleshoot malfunctions and test performance of equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance, facilities maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and replacement of defective parts, equipment and systems
- Ensures the maintenance work area, warehouse, facility, grounds and storage areas remain neat, clean, safe and orderly. Cleans and repairs hand tools and power tools used for mechanical equipment maintenance
- Prepares job sites for projects and repairs, assembles and organizes equipment, tools, and materials
- Utilizes and updates hard-copy and digital copies of equipment, operations and maintenance manuals
- Completes preventative maintenance work orders using the CMMS in addition to creating work orders and documenting time, equipment and materials
- Operates equipment such as scissor lifts, forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, boats, UTV’s, etc.
- Performs additional duties as assigned based on departmental needs
- Responds to emergency repairs as needed due to inclement weather or other emergency-related events
- Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 1 to 3 years’ experience in water/wastewater plant operation and maintenance, or related work;OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar environment, outdoor environment, or a construction site.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to loud noises (85 decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction). Employees may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic substances.

Salary : $50,649 - $76,024
