Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Protects life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances
Patrols assigned areas
Responds to calls for police service
Conducts preliminary and follow-up criminal and traffic investigations
Conducts interviews
Prepares written reports and field notes of investigations and patrol activities
Apprehends criminals and testifies in court
Work requires extensive contact with outside agencies and the general public
Typical Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent
United States citizen or naturalized citizen
Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of graduation from the Raleigh Police Academy
Must have a valid Driver's License
Vision corrected to 20/20 and cannot be colorblind
Additional Information
Lateral-entry officers are eligible to earn a starting salary of up to $66,124.00.
