Role Description The Environmental Health Educator is a full-time, on-site role based in Racine, WI, focused on designing and delivering education programs that address environmental and community health concerns. In this role, the educator develops and presents materials on topics such as air and water quality, safe housing, nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention. Daily responsibilities include conducting outreach in schools and community settings, organizing workshops and events, and providing one-on-one education to residents. The educator collaborates with public health staff to collect data, identify local health trends, and support initiatives that reduce environmental health risks. The role also involves creating clear, accessible educational resources, responding to community inquiries, and maintaining accurate records and reports for program evaluation.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Health Education and Community Health, with the ability to design and implement evidence-based educational programs.
- Knowledge of Nutrition and Physical Education principles to support healthy lifestyle and prevention-focused initiatives.
- Experience in Education, including curriculum development, teaching, or training in classroom or community settings.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences and age groups.
- Ability to work collaboratively with community partners, schools, and public health teams, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Environmental Health, Nutrition, Education, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CHES) are a plus.
