Normal Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.  Additional hours, including weekends and holidays may be required.

An entry level laborer position responsible for daily maintenance of parks, medians, municipal properties, cul-de-sacs, and streetscape.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.
•    Mowing, weed-eating, pruning, and trimming of plant material in City's parks and grounds, medians, cul-de-sacs and Streetscape.
•    Cleaning flowerbeds, planting trees, shrubs and flowers
•    Maintenance of picnic shelters, gazebos, parking lots, tennis courts, recreational and playground equipment
•    Installation and repair of irrigation equipment
•    Painting, minor repairs and assembly of park equipment and facilities.
•    Operate equipment, tractors & mowers, etc.
•    Use power tools to make repairs on buildings and park equipment.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
•    Knowledge of proper safety procedures, including signage and traffic management techniques and appropriate personal protective equipment.
•    Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and landscape maintenance.
•    Knowledge of the equipment and materials used for lawn care and landscape maintenance.
•    Knowledge of the use of basic hand tools and painting equipment.
•    Skill in the use of landscaping and lawn care equipment.
•    Skill in doing simple mechanical and painting repair.
•    Able to do primarily outside laboring work.
•    Able to operate equipment that is potentially hazardous.
•    Able to communicate effectively with members of the public.
•    Able to operate light vehicles and equipment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
•    High school diploma or equivalency certificate highly desirable, but not required.
•    Valid Florida driver’s license required.
