Position Summary:
Supports the daily operations of the Transfer Station by performing scale house/fee booth attendant, customer service, and accounting clerk duties as assigned. 18-24 hours weekly with commitment to Thursday and Saturday shifts and additional help during vacation requests.
Essential Duties:
- Weighs trucks on the inbound and outbound truck scales in order to compute net weight; issues weight tickets on certain types of scale equipment; and utilizes computer interactive system to record sale transactions and other data.
- Serves as primary contact for customers depositing waste at the Transfer Station.
- High level of Customer Service: Greets visitors; answers questions and receives complaints from the general public; provides information about current fee structures for different waste streams; receives payments; and reconciles daily transactions, data entry, and record keeping for transfer station operations.
- Works primarily alone in an outdoor or non-traditional office setting with almost constant contact with the public, operators of commercial vehicles, and other City employees.
- Performs fee booth attendant/accounting clerk duties as assigned.
- Receives cash and checks and operates cash register; demonstrates consistent accuracy and integrity in handling, receiving, and accounting for cash, checks, credit cards, and account charges.
- Prepares bank deposits and daily cash balance reports; verifies and codes revenue.
- Coordinates with transfer station equipment operators to load customers seeking wood chips, aggregate material, or disposing of inert materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of full-time cashiering, customer service, bookkeeping, clerical accounting, or closely related work; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily alone in an outdoor or non-traditional office setting.
- Safely operates a City vehicle and variety of standard office equipment including a computer terminal, telephone, 10-key calculator, copier, and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Position requires standing for extended periods of time and working in confined conditions.
- Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicates in person and over the radio and telephone.
- Requires working Tuesday through Saturday or any combination of days to meet the needs of the Division.
- Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
