General Statement of Duties
Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and service work on buildings and grounds, and
irrigation systems; operates equipment and machinery and performs related work as required.
Classification Summary
The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform maintenance, repair,
inspection, and service work on City Parks, buildings and grounds, including irrigation systems,
and playground structures. Additional duties include soil and plant cultivation, pesticide and
fertilization applications, cleanup duties and public restroom cleaning and maintenance. The
work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor or Park
Lead. The principal duties of this class are performed outdoors and will include working in
adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of power tools, equipment and
hazardous chemicals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs maintenance and repair work on buildings, shelters, restrooms, and picnic areas,

• High school diploma or GED equivalency;
- Two (2) to three (3) years landscape maintenance experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and
abilities necessary to perform the work.

Special Qualifications
- 18 years old
- Valid Driver’s License
- Pesticide certification on hire or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire;
- First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
