This position is full time and the schedule is Thursday-Monday, 5:00am-1:00pm with Tuesday and Wednesday off.
Starting pay range is $22.32 - $24.61 an hour per the AFSCME 1386A Working Agreement.

NATURE OF WORK
The purposes of this position are to perform and complete unskilled and semi-skilled municipal buildings, parking garage, parking lots, and other maintenance and construction work. Included are assignments such as snow and ice control operations, street cleaning, seasonal clearing and cleaning operations; facilities maintenance, repair, and construction; curb laying, and street repairs; improving traffic and pedestrian access and sight distances; grounds maintenance, vegetation trimming, cutting, and removal; back filling, loading, and transporting; and implementing job site and work safety procedures.
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director, Parking General Foreman, or their designee. Incumbent plans and carries out daily work with a degree of independence and teamwork. Performance is subject to review according to the City’s personnel plan through observation, reports, and the results achieved.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

2. Perform booth attendant’s duties as required.
3. Respond to customer questions and concerns.
4. Mows grass, weeds and brush. Rakes and picks up refuse, leaves and other debris. Performs other manual and machine assisted maintenance, repair and construction work.
5. Shovels snow and spreads sand, salt and sweep sidewalks, parking lots, steps, plow the top level of the parking garage; etc. Spreads sand, gravel and asphalt. Digs and moves materials with hand tools, wheelbarrows and hand trucks.
6. Loads and unloads heavy materials from vehicles. Assists with stocking operations. Mixes and pours cement. Lays asphalt and patches streets. Assists with meter installations and programs meter boxes. Maintains parks and other grounds.
8. Assists with preparing, maintaining and performing job site and work safety practices.
9. Subject to call out to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.

ENVIRONMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT
Primary duties of this position involve: repairing and maintaining the parking garage and related municipal facilities, equipment, and machinery. Work is performed in a garage, public works yard, at field locations, in vehicles, and outside in all weather conditions. Current position includes some limited physical requirements including frequently moving and transporting equipment, supplies, and tools weighing up to 80 pounds and continuous noises from machine operations.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or have earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED), have a working knowledge of how to care for, operate and use tools and equipment effectively and efficiently and have not less than two years’ experience in construction or maintenance work.
New hires must obtain before the end of their probationary period and incumbents must possess a valid commercial driver’s license, class B and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict insurability by any insurance carrier providing coverage to the City. Additional certifications and licensing may be required.
To obtain a New Hampshire CDL, Federal Law states that you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a valid New Hampshire Driver License
- Be at least 18 years of age
- If you are an out of state applicant, you must be 21 years of age or older
