The Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Pay Station Technician team is looking to add a motivated meter technician to repair, monitor, and maintain our parking meters and their systems. In this role, you will be focused on diagnosing and repairing issues with both mechanical and electronic components. Installing updates and upgrades to parking meter programs and components. Cleaning and keeping our meters free of graffiti and vandalism. To be successful as a Pay Station Technician, you should possess excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, solid technical and mechanical knowledge, and good task managing abilities. A Pay Station Technician should enhance the team dynamic. They should be able to provide timely technical and mechanical support and introduce new programs and components to enhance and improve technology in the organization.

Parking Meter Technician Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair technological and mechanical equipment for parking meters
• Set up parking meter hardware
• Install parking meter software
• Perform regular upgrades
• Perform troubleshoot activities
• Create and maintain electronic records of repairs and fixes
• Train and collaborate with other team members
• Interacting with the public, providing technical support
• Repairing vandalized parts and graffiti from meters
• Drive a van or other city vehicle

To Qualify

• Valid state driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of hire
Take and pass a Pre-Placement medical exam
