CUSTODIAL WORKER-ON CALL (SHELTERS)
Health and Human Services Department – Social Services Division -
The Social Services department is hiring per diem custodial workers. This position performs a variety of custodial functions which include : cleaning of the Public Health Division clinics, Homeless Services Center, Family Shelter and staff offices. Duties include general cleaning, trash removal, cleaning of bathrooms, floor care, waiting rooms, laundry, light maintenance, grounds work, routine facility maintenance as necessary, routine exterior maintenance, including snow removal, and other tasks as required. Requirements : Experience in custodial / maintenance work, ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions. Working knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to meet and deal courteously with the public; physical strength and agility necessary to perform the essential functions of the work; and valid Maine Class C driver’s license. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check. Rate of pay is $18.72 / hour. Additionally, a $2.00 shift differential is paid for all weekend hours and nights after 7PM. This is a non-benefit eligible position.
