JOB SUMMARY:
To oversee the automotive and mechanical parts supply of the Equipment Services Department including ordering, receiving, recording and storing parts and supplies; to maintain parts inventory records; and to pick up parts and supplies as needed.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES – :Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Order, receive, record, store and issue all parts and supplies for the maintenance and repair of automotive and other equipment.
Conduct inventory on all parts and supplies to ensure adequate supply.
Prepare a variety of requisitions and forms, and request and post purchase order numbers on documents.
Prepare, code and distribute repair work orders and invoices.
Maintain parts manuals for all equipment used.
Contact vendors for specifications and prices for inventory items specialty parts.
Monitor and operate two-way radio equipment as necessary.
Perform a variety of clerical duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of::
Practices, parts, materials and terminology used in automotive and heavy equipment repair.
Inventory and record keeping procedures and practices.
Ability to::
Read and interpret parts manuals and specifications.
Take inventory and issue parts as necessary.
Analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
Maintain records and reports accurately.
Operate a two-way radio.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES :- Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience::
Four (4) years of experience performing increasingly responsible purchasing, warehousing or central storekeeping work, preferably in an automotive shop setting.
Training::
Must have completed the twelfth grade and possess a high school diploma or have a GED.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate Texas Driver’s License.
