Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Port Angeles, WA, for an Assistant City Attorney. The Assistant City Attorney will provide legal counsel to City departments, employees, and officials, conduct legal research, and draft and review ordinances, contracts, and other legal documents. Additional responsibilities include representing the City in legal proceedings, offering expert advice on labor and employment matters, handling negotiations, and assisting in litigation proceedings. The role requires a strong commitment to public service and effective collaboration across City departments and external partners.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Law and understanding of Labor and Employment Law.
- Experience providing Legal Advice and conducting thorough legal Research.
- Strong Negotiation skills and ability to represent the City in legal matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in the Washington State Bar Association or the ability to obtain membership within a specified timeframe.
- Experience in municipal or governmental law is preferred.
