- Repairs water plant machinery, such as centrifugal pumps, chlorinators, lime slakers, gearboxes, pneumatic controls, proportional chemical feeders, high service pumps, and auxiliary power units.
- Makes periodic inspections of pumps, valves and storage facilities equipment and makes necessary repairs.
- Does necessary greasing and keeps a log of all repairs on equipment. Performs related work as required.
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Supplemented by courses in repair of mechanical equipment.
- Considerable experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of treatment plant equipment or equivalent.
- Comparable training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Possession of a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of application.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment.
- Skilled in detecting flaws, malfunctions, and making necessary repairs.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Commitment to ethical behavior, integrity, and effective teamwork across diverse groups.
- Reliable attendance and ability to maintain effective working relationships.Â
- Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with others via telephone and personal contact (ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls).
- Physical abilities include walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to chemicals, machinery hazards, and adverse weather conditions.
