About the Job
- Plattsburg is currently the only 24-hour law enforcement agency aside from the Sheriff's Office. We normally have 1 officer on duty working 12-hour shifts but may be supplemented by the Chief or Part-Time Officers. The schedule rotates with every other weekend off. Each officer conducts their own investigations from start to finish with assistance as needed. We have municipal court every other month. Each officer has their own desk and an assigned vehicle. We have a professional but relaxed work environment.

o Plattsburg is located 30 minutes north of Kansas City and 30 minutes southeast of St. Joseph, MO.
o Plattsburg is located in Clinton County and is the County Seat.
o Our population is approximately 2200 residents located in 3.5 square miles with 22 miles of roadway
o The major thoroughfares are Hwy 116, Y Hwy and C Hwy with Hwy 33 and US 169 nearby
About the PD:
o We have 4 full-time officers, 5 part-time officers and the Chief of Police
o We have a fleet of 4 cars and a replacement schedule
o Starting pay without experience is $47,440/yr with immediate pay increases available for experienced officers up to $52,658/yr and there is an annual step increase.
o Insurance benefits start after 2 months and employee health insurance is paid by the city.
o Employees will have 40 hours of vacation after one year, 80 hours after 2 years, and you can take comp time in place of overtime upon employment
o We have a pay step scale in place with annual increases through 15 years and room to grow with additional incentives
o Retirement is LAGERS L-3 with vesting after 5 years
o Sick leave is accrued at 6.6 hours per pay period and starts upon employment
o All equipment is furnished except socks and undergarments
o Our current budget is $404,800 with a city budget of $5.3 million
