The Plattsburg Police Department is a small department of 4 patrol officers, the Chief, and several Reserve Officers in a city that is 3.5 square miles in the heart of Clinton County, Missouri.
Our Officers conduct patrol, engage in community events, conduct traffic enforcement, and are responsible for investigations from the beginning to the end. The Officers are empowered to engage with the community and other law enforcement agencies. We are professional but laid back.
The Department pays for CEUs, training, and all uniforms/equipment. We strongly believe in training that brings value to the officer and the citizens.
· About the Burg:
o Plattsburg is located 30 minutes north of Kansas City and 30 minutes southeast of St. Joseph, MO.
o Plattsburg is located in Clinton County and is the County Seat.
o Our population is approximately 2200 residents located in 3.5 square miles with 22 miles of roadway
o The major thoroughfares are Hwy 116, Y Hwy and C Hwy with Hwy 33 and US 169 nearby
· About the PD:
o Immediate pay increases available for experienced officers and there is an annual step increase.
o Insurance benefits start after 2 months and employee health insurance is paid by the city.
o Employees will have 40 hours of vacation after one year, 80 hours after 2 years, and you can take comp time in place of overtime upon employment
o We have a pay step scale in place with annual increases through 15 years and room to grow with additional incentives
o Retirement is LAGERS L-3 with vesting after 5 years
o Sick leave is accrued at 6.6 hours per pay period and starts upon employment
