Bring your passion for service and community impact to the City of Plano! We are seeking a dedicated Housing and Community Service Coordinator to join our Neighborhood Services team. In this impactful role, you’ll be part of a supportive team committed to revitalizing the community and making a meaningful impact on residents’ quality of life.

This position requires strong judgment, excellent written and verbal communication, the ability to work independently while balancing multiple projects, and the ability to verify application and financial documents. This role involves office-based work, with approximately 35% of the time on the phone, 10% face-to-face contact with Plano residents and the remaining time completing administrative work utilizing Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Qualified Candidates Will Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business, Finance, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related field
• Two (2) years of experience as a Community Development Coordinator, or in mortgage lending, CDBG or HOME administration, housing rehabilitation or related field
• Note: Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

This position requires a high level of customer service, as more than half of the workday may be spent assisting Plano residents by phone. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional patience, professionalism, and attention to detail, and can multi-task numerous files while providing clear, supportive guidance. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience are essential to succeed in this role.

This role is 100 percent on-site, the City does not offer hybrid or remote options.

• Four (4) ten-hour days
• Four (4) nine-hour days and one (1) four-hour day
• Five (5) eight-hour days
