In this role, the ideal candidate will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of major public works and municipal construction projects that make a lasting impact. The ideal candidate will take charge of high-value and technically complex initiatives that support the City’s long-term infrastructure vision and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
As a Construction Project Manager, the ideal candidate will guide each project with purpose and clarity, ensuring progress stays on track, budgets are carefully managed, and all city, state, and federal standards are met. Construction Project Managers are responsible for the daily oversight and delivery of complex construction projects involving significant budgets, technical requirements, and stakeholder coordination. They exercise independent judgment in decision-making, scope management, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Knowledge And Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in construction project management, including two (2) years in a supervisory role on midsize to large projects. Demonstrated success in large facility projects.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft, Procore, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6 preferred.
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications may be considered an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License required .
Conditions of Employment: Must pass background check, drug screening, and driver’s license verification. May require periodic presentations to governing boards or public groups.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: This is primarily a sedentary office classification with frequent site visits. Requires regular communication with contractors, consultants, and the public. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds .
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

- Preferred Experience:
- Experience with the design and construction of police, fire, and other public facilities.
- Experience managing public works projects from conception through completion.
- Preferred Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- CCM (Certified Construction Manager)
- CQM (Construction Quality Management)
- OSHA 10 or higher safety certification

- Manage multiple construction projects concurrently from concept to completion.
- Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, and resource allocations.
- Prepare cost estimates and ensure effective budget control, approvals, and documentation for audits.
- Manage procurement processes including RFQs, contractor selection, and contract administration.
- Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control Procedures.
- Oversee construction quality, compliance with codes/regulations, and adherence to specifications.
- Identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and resolve project challenges.
- Facilitate project meetings and communicate progress to leadership, stakeholders, and governing bodies.
- Experience with contract and project administration, invoice review and processing.
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting, including financial updates and status reports.
