JOB TITLE: PLUMBER DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
FULL-TIME/NON-EXEMPT UNION/NON-UNION: TEAMSTERS LOCAL #404 Under the
direction of the Director of Maintenance, the Plumber is responsible for
maintaining and servicing plumbing systems in City-owned buildings and
schools. This includes installing, repairing, and inspecting systems for
water supply, drainage, heating, and waste disposal. The ideal candidate
will bring strong technical expertise in the plumbing trade, along with
a solid understanding of state and local codes and regulations. This is
a skilled journeyman-level role requiring the ability to perform and
occasionally oversee a wide range of plumbing and heating system repairs
and installations. The work supports essential City operations and
ensures the comfort, safety, and functionality of public facilities. We

valves, fixtures, and drainage systems. - Maintain and troubleshoot
plumbing systems; replace defective or leaky components. - Open clogged
drains and perform necessary connections to plumbing fixtures. -
Assemble, solder, or bolt pipe sections, valves, and couplings. - Read
and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical diagrams to lay out and
perform skilled work on water, drainage, heating, and ventilating
systems. - Perform pipe fitting work using steel, iron, brass, copper,
and other materials. - Inspect and test pipelines and plumbing for
safety and functionality. - Repair thermostatic controls and related
heating system components. - Collaborate with other trades and laborers
on maintenance projects. - Performs other manual duties related to
plumbing work & will work in conjunction with other trades and laborers
as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma or equivalent. - At
least five (5) years of experience working in the plumbing trade. -
Possession of a Journeyman Plumbers License. - Valid driver\'s license,
Class D. - Strong knowledge of standard plumbing practices, tools,
materials, and techniques. - Familiarity with federal, state, and local
plumbing codes and building regulations. - Ability to read and interpret
blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications. - Hands-on skill
using plumbing tools and equipment. - Strong communication skills and
the ability to work effectively as part of a team, including
coordination with other trades, laborers, and City staff. WORKING
CONDITIONS This position involves frequent interaction with City staff,
the general public, and contractors. The Plumber works in a variety of
environments, including municipal buildings, schools, mechanical rooms,
and occasionally outdoor locations in various weather conditions. A high
level of professionalism, safety awareness, and problem-solving is
expected at all times. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The role requires the use
of tools, equipment, and machinery specific to plumbing tasks. The
Plumber must be able to move throughout facilities, climb ladders, enter
crawl spaces, and work in tight or elevated areas as needed. Regular
lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds from ground to
shoulder height is required. HOURS Monday - Friday, 40 per week 7:00AM -
3:30PM SALARY Starting salary \$23.24 - \$24.65 per hour Annual
increases up to \$32.17 per hour
