About This Position
The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department's Traffic Services Division is dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. The Traffic Signal Shop plays a critical role in this mission by constructing, remodeling, and maintaining signalized intersections citywide.
The City's Traffic Services Division is seeking to fill the role of Supplies Supervisor which will oversee all warehouse, inventory, and procurement operations that support the Traffic Signal Shop. This position manages the receipt, inspection, storage, distribution, and tracking of specialized traffic signal equipment and related materials essential to maintaining over 1,300 signalized intersections citywide. The Supplies Supervisor ensures the accuracy and reliability of the City's perpetual inventory system, oversees purchasing for specialized and technical commodities, and coordinates surplus activities and warehouse organization in support of major operational initiatives. This role provides day-to-day supervision of warehouse staff including Inventory Control Specialist, Supplies Clerks II, and other support personnel.
The incumbent will collaborate closely with Traffic Signal Maintenance, Engineering, and Administrative teams to ensure timely fulfillment of material requests, effective budget use, and compliance with purchasing procedures which requires strong organizational skills.

- Providing safety training.
- Monitoring inventory levels.
- Preparing operational and performance reports.
- Supervising annual and cyclical inventory counts
- Developing and implementing warehouse procedures.
- Managing high-volume technical inventory environment.
- Troubleshooting warehousing issues in a fast-paced operational setting.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Knowledge Of
- Storekeeping and warehousing methods and practices.
- Principles of personnel management and supervision.
- Purchasing methods and procedures including buying, inspections and shipping methods.
- Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibility over others.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees, vendors and the public.
- Communicate orally in the English language with customers, employees, vendors, and the public in face-to-face, one-to-one and group settings, or by telephone and email.
- Observe, compare, or monitor data, such as excess amounts and turnover rates, to determine compliance with prescribed operating standards.
- Write reports on storeroom operations and activities with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.

Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of experience in warehousing, stores, and stores records activities.
- Including two years of supervisory experience.
- Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

- Managing warehouse employees.
- Managing vendor and service contracts.
- Using SAP/SRM within a warehouse or operations environment.
- Maintaining accurate inventory levels and conducting regular inventory counts.
- Overseeing the ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensuring adherence to city/department policies, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
