Fire Equipment Service Worker

About This Position

The Phoenix Fire Department is committed to providing the highest level of public safety services to our community. This position maintains, repairs, and rebuilds firefighting support equipment. The equipment maintained includes: Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and uniforms, hose couplings, hose valves, nozzles, two-cycle and four-cycle engines, rescue saws, small electric motors, pumps and generators, hand ladders, and small electronic devices. This position also assists in maintaining needed supplies and equipment to support training.

SALARY

Pay Range: $21.97 to $32.46 per hour.

Hiring Range: $21.97 to $29.44 per hour.

• Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
• Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
• Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
• Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
• Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
• When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of skilled experience in the repair and maintenance of breathing air equipment, hand ladders, small engines, protective clothing, and motor.
• Or completion of the City of Phoenix Fire Equipment Service Worker Trainee Program.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
• Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Two or more years of experience in inventory control.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing and rebuilding self-contained breathing apparatus, oxygen regulators, Laerdal suction units, and CPR machines.
• Experience performing basic routine checks of a vehicle (such as tires, fluid leaks, and warning signs).
