The Coach / Head Start Educator*Program Assistant provides educational coaching, mentoring, training, and technical assistance to teaching staff. This position may also conduct classroom monitoring to ensure compliance with federal Head Start program performance standards.
Using knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education, responsibilities include:
Pay Range: $27.49 - $38.68 per hour.
Hiring Range: $27.49 - $31.82 per hour.

The Coach / Head Start Educator*Program Assistant provides educational coaching, mentoring, training, and technical assistance to teaching staff. This position may also conduct classroom monitoring to ensure compliance with federal Head Start program performance standards.
Using knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education, responsibilities include:
- Participating in on-site visits.
- Conducting classroom observations and work groups to assess program needs and assist with program planning.
- Providing guidance and support to staff with implementation of curriculum, individualized plans and on-going assessments.
- Developing and disseminating resources and best practices for the process of implementing quality improvement efforts.
- Facilitating teaching workshops.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Effective written and oral communication in a variety of settings.
- Flexible problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Arizona Department of Health Service, Child Licensure.
- Knowledge of the Six Strategies of Active Supervision, and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other City employees, members of the outside agencies.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems, to plan, organize and coordinate program requirements.
- Ability to understand and implement complex federal regulations, such as Arizona Child Care Licensing or Head Start Performance Standards.
Pay Range: $27.49 - $38.68 per hour.
Hiring Range: $27.49 - $31.82 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of the Child Development Associate credential.
- OR Associate's degree in psychology, special education, social services, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Three years of experience in developing and implementing parent education programs
- OR Three years experience in developing and implementing programs for children with disabilities
- OR Three years of experience in preschool teaching including monitoring and evaluating preschool programs
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field required as mandated by funding source: o 1302.91 Staff qualifications and competency requirements. | ECLKC (hhs.gov).
- Three or more years of early childhood education teaching experience.
- Two or more years of experience coaching teaching staff.
- Two or more years of experience providing technical assistance for program needs.
- Experience analyzing data and writing detailed reports.
- Head Start or Early Head Start experience.
