The Child Watch Lead provides shift-level supervision, guidance, and operational support to Child Watch Team Members at the Monarch Recreation Center. The position ensures a safe, attentive, and engaging environment for children while supporting consistent daily operations and high-quality customer service for parents and guardians. The Lead serves as the primary shift point-of-contact, assists with child and parent concerns, and ensures compliance with established safety procedures and Child Watch policies.
  • Oversees daily Child Watch operations, including supervision, sign-in/sign-out, staff-to-child ratios, play activities, and overall safety; provides direction to staff to ensure safe and consistent operations.
  • Assigns tasks, monitors staff performance, ensures adherence to safety and supervision standards, provides coaching, confirms cleaning completion, and ensures readiness of Child Watch spaces.
  • Handles escalated customer questions, complaints, membership errors, and account adjustments within guidelines; escalates unresolved issues to the Customer Service Coordinator.
  • Monitors Child Watch spaces for cleanliness, safety, and appropriate equipment use; ensures required cleaning/disinfecting procedures are completed.
  • Coordinates with the Customer Service Coordinator and Membership Supervisor to provide updates, communicate incidents, and support staffing and facility needs.
  • Assists with onboarding, shadowing, and training of Child Watch Team Members; reinforces policies, emergency procedures, service expectations, and supervision standards.
  • Remains accessible via cell phone to address job-related issues or emergencies using City applications.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relatable Work Experience: Experience working with or supervising children.
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: Babysitting Basics, CPR, AED, and First Aid required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in childcare, recreation, or a similar setting. Previous lead or shift supervisor experience. Advanced Childcare Certification.

Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic childcare and supervision. 
  • Knowledge of basic customer service standards. 
  • Skills in communication, patience, and positive interaction with children. 
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and established policies. 
  • Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment. 
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. occasionally. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements (Work Environment):
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. 
  • Regular talking, listening, and interaction with children. 
  • Potential minor injuries from working with active children. 
  • Exposure to loud play environments. 
  • Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals. 
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids.

Salary : $16 - $19
