What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician Water Plant / Wastewater Treatment Plant position at City of Perryville?
The City of Perryville is currently accepting applications for an entry-level Maintenance Technician at the Water Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant. Primary duties of the position include collect and test water samples; operate equipment to purify and clarify water; and clean and maintain equipment, tanks, and filters. On-the-job training will be provided. This position requires four 10-hour shifts as well as rotating weekend schedules, normally one weekend per month.
The starting salary is $42,701 with an increase to $44,410 after successfully completing the probationary period. Depending on qualifications, previous certifications and experience may constitute a higher starting salary.
A strong preference will be given to applicants with the following skills, abilities and qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED (required)
- Valid Missouri driver’s license (required)
- Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsement (required)
- Applicants who do not hold a CDL at time of hire must obtain within the probationary period
- Must obtain and maintain certifications in both Water and Wastewater operations. A D-level Water or Wastewater Certificate must be earned within one year of attending the required 10-day certification course, and both certifications must be obtained within three years of hire date, unless extenuating circumstances apply. The City strongly encourages continued advancement toward higher license levels, up to and including the Class A certification.
