While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.
The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
An employee in this job is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and has a risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in construction, piping, plumbing, building maintenance, or repair of appliances.
- Successful completion of requirements and standards for Operator Qualifications as prescribed by departmental standards and any other license, training, or certification required by law or regulation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Sets and removes residential and commercial meters and regulators, including the fittings of pipes and connections.
- Terminates service in situations of potential hazard.
- Enforces safety rules and other accident measures as required by Part 192, Pipeline Safety Act, Chapter 25.12, Florida Statutes, OSHA, and other regulatory rules effecting the natural gas industry.
- Responds to gas leaks at the airport, hospitals, restaurants, gate stations, regulator stations, industrial facilities, commercial buildings and residential homes and completes associated reports.
- Repairs, maintains, and monitors odorization injection pumps.
- Assists with daily operations of natural gas service to customers.
- Calibrates gas meters and regulators and ensures accuracy.
- Reports to gate stations for pressure and odorant situations.
- Drives and maintains vehicle and equipment.
- Attends safety meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in pipefitting and in the installation and repair of meters and appliances.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local procedures, codes, and regulations which pertain to gas distribution.
- Knowledge of operation and application of various types of leak detection equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of gas fired appliances both residential and commercial.
- Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, supplies, tools, and practices used in the natural gas operations.
- Thorough knowledge of Part 192, Federal Pipeline Safety Act, Chapter 25.12, Florida Statutes, OSHA Regulations and other regulatory rules effecting the natural gas industry.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prepare oral and written reports.
- Ability to maintain records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
- Ability to withstand working out-of-doors under variable weather conditions.
