JOB SUMMARY
This is a technical and supervisory position within the Economic Development Department which houses the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) functions for the City of Pensacola. The Landscape and Assets Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of urban landscapes and CRA -owned assets, including landscape and building maintenance, contractor oversight, quality control, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
A key function of this role is to develop, organize, and supervise an in-house maintenance crew to support the upkeep of CRA properties and public spaces. Equally critical is the administration and oversight of maintenance-related contracts, including monitoring contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms, and maintaining quality standards.
This position serves as a working supervisor, assisting the Landscape and Asset Project Manager in managing daily maintenance operations across streetscapes, parks, public spaces, hardscapes, redevelopment sites and supporting infrastructure within CRA areas. This role requires strong organizational, technical, and leadership skills to effectively coordinate both internal staff and external service providers. This position is employed by the City of Pensacola in accordance with an interlocal agreement with the CRA to provide landscape and asset maintenance and installation services supporting CRA operations.
Supervision of subordinate landscape staff and contractors is required. Performance is evaluated based on the quality, innovation, and effectiveness of maintenance and installation outcomes achieved, as well as adherence to project goals and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- And five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in landscape, facilities, or asset maintenance, construction, or a related field, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6-8 years in a supervisory or crew lead role
- Experience overseeing contractors or service providers
- Exposure to municipal, CRA, or public sector environments
- Possession of or ability to obtain relevant certifications related to landscape and asset maintenance, pesticide application, and safety within a specified timeframe.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and any certifications required to operate project-related equipment. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred but not required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee the safe and effective use of maintenance equipment by crews and contractors; operate equipment as needed to support maintenance activities.
- Serves as working supervisor, actively assisting the maintenance crew engaged in various work areas in performing landscape and asset maintenance tasks while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to industry.
- Assists the Landscape and Asset Project Manager in crew lead capacity to plan, coordinate, and execute assigned maintenance and improvement projects.
- Develops, organizes, and directs daily work assignments for in-house maintenance staff, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and CRA asset management needs.
- Trains, mentors, and provides ongoing guidance to maintenance staff in proper equipment use, maintenance techniques, safety protocols, and quality expectations.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, perform quality control, and ensure maintenance activities meet established design specifications and sustainability standards.
- Maintains detailed operating records and prepares reports for management review, including documentation of work performed, site conditions, and performance metrics.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of contractors and services providers, ensuring compliance with contract terms, City standards, safety requirements, and design intent.
- Assists in developing and implementing systems for tracking maintenance activities and contractor performance, including site reports, visual documentation, and performance tracking, identifying challenges and recommending solutions.

- Knowledge of irrigation system repairs and maintenance, herbicide and pesticide applications, and the operation and maintenance of equipment to include mowers, spreaders, sprayers, trimmers and other types of similar equipment used in landscape and building maintenance.
- Knowledge and understanding of landscaping principles and techniques, including but not limited to, landscape architecture, horticulture, plant selection, irrigation systems, hardscape installation, and construction.
- Knowledge of safety compliance, as it relates to general landscape and construction practices.
- Communication, organizational, and team leadership skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Ability to traverse various types of landscapes and perform work for extended periods outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
