What are the responsibilities and job description for the POLICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST *Shift Work position at City of Pembroke Pines?
Duties:
**Shift Work** 40 hours per week

Receives calls from public via non emergency phone lines and makes decisions as to responses required by Police Personnel.
Operates multiple computer systems which both retrieve and disseminate law enforcement data.
Monitors and operates law enforcement radio equipment.
Monitors various security systems.
Prepares various reports and creates logs of activities.
Assists field units utilizing various informational services.
Document citizen reports over the telephone.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
1. Knowledge of city streets and local area
2. Ability to communicate effectively and document the communications
3. Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
4. Ability to speak clearly and concisely on the telephone
5. Ability to think clearly and logically under stress
6. Skill with modern office equipment
7. Skill in interpersonal interactions to elicit critical information from sick, injured and/or highly emotional individuals who may be in a life threatening situation
8. Skill in accurately and rapidly carrying out requests for information or assistance
9. Ability to write thorough police reports.
Requirements:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Proficient with standard office suites and prior experience with proprietary software.
3. Must be able to pass State mandated background investigation.
4. Must take & pass City Basic Skills & Typing tests at the time of submitting application you must make an appointment for the testing. (approximately 1 hour, Mon – Thurs 8am-3pm for testing). 954-392-2090
