Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, performs a variety of tasks assisting in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of City of Pembroke Pines park facilities and recreation areas. This position performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure that parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and community spaces are well-maintained and ready for public use. Work is reviewed through observation for adherence to established policies and procedures.

Examples Of Essential Functions
- Perform daily upkeep of park grounds including mowing, edging, trimming, raking, weed removal, and litter collection.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, and recreational areas; replenish supplies as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility and dispose of waste properly.
- Clean and maintain commercial prep kitchen areas and appliances.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of park amenities including irrigation systems, picnic shelters, fences, and signage.
- Operate small equipment such as blowers, trimmers, mowers, and pressure washers safely and efficiently.
- Support preparation and cleanup for special events, programs, and rentals hosted by the Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
- Perform inspections and report safety hazards, vandalism, or maintenance concerns to supervisory staff.
- Assist with painting, landscaping, and minor construction or repair projects as assigned.
- Follow all departmental and City safety standards and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in parks, facilities, or grounds maintenance preferred.
- Valid Florida Driver's License preferred.
- Knowledge. Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with general public and co-workers.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
