The Lateral Police Officer Process

- Verified lateral applicants are invited to apply directly with us
- Application and other required documents are submitted and that constitutes 70% of the score
- One additional point is added to the 70% for each year of Police Officer experience
- Additional points are added if they qualify for Veteran’s Preference points under RCW 41.04.010
- Candidates are ranked on the eligible list, certified by the Commission, and notified of their ranking on the eligible list
