The City of Pasadena - Public Works Department is seeking a Maintenance Repairer to perform skilled work in construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, and City equipment with specific emphasis in roofing, carpentry, and general maintenance.

The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future. Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one-year probationary work period.Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

- Performs skilled maintenance and repair work and minor construction on buildings, structures, and City equipment.
- Performs, maintains, inspects, installs, replaces, repairs and programs.
- Maintains and repairs City equipment such as stationary boilers, small electric motors, fans, filters, compressors, and air conditioning systems.
- Performs basic electrical work on non-energized lines, receptacles, and light fixtures; changes light tubes/bulbs; installs conduit.
- Performs various maintenance and repairs on various doors and gates such as rollup doors, sectional doors, auto gates including but not limited to participating in component monitoring, locking systems, inspection, installation, programming (ex. ground loops, rollup and sectional door operators, door receivers and remote controls, door treks, photo eyes and edge guards).
- Participates in various tenant improvement tasks including but not limited to: site demolition, moving, and clean up; roofs and/or gutter systems repairs; floor installation and repairs; walls or ceiling installation and applications.
- Paints and makes repairs on equipment. installs doors and windows, applies insulation material, mixes, and pours cement, constructs, and reconditions office furniture, sets glass.
- Locates and maintains drains and participates in other plumbing-related support tasks.
- Operates equipment, hand, and power tools.
- Drives City vehicles; may direct the work of assistants.
- Performs related tasks as assigned.

- Three years of recent experience as a helper in the construction and repair trades, OR
- One year of journey level experience in a skilled trade (general repairs, automated doors and gates, door locks, carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, or heating and air conditioning).
- Five years of experience is preferred.
- Experience working with electrical components.
- Prior locksmith experience, knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in the building construction, maintenance, and repair fields.
- Ability to operate basic shop equipment, ability to work from blueprints and rough sketches.
- Physical strength and agility to lift up to 40 lbs, bend in all directions, climb ladders, squeeze with arms and hands, pull and lower items up to 40 lbs, operates machinery using hand and legs.
