Position: Field Operations Laborer
Reports to: Field Operations Crew Leader/Foreman/Superintendent
Department: O-2
FLSA Status: Non - Exempt/Hourly
Core Schedule: M-F 7:00a-4:00p
Job Summary: Under general supervision, serves to maintain lines of the water and wastewater system; and does related work as required.
Key Accountabilities:
Employee is responsible for but not limited to the following.
- Basic knowledge or the ability to learn water distribution and waste water collections systems.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used to maintain the lines throughout the city.
- Knowledge or the ability to learn water systems operation or plumbing.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used and preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to understand and to follow instructions.
- Mows grass, inspects motors, pumps and other equipment to insure proper operations.
- Helps load and unload chemicals and other materials.
- Perform city wide line locates as related to 811-dig.
- Cleans building and surroundings. All other related duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to learn principles and practices applied in the operation and maintenance of water systems.
- Ability to inspect utility lines and to detect flaws and defects.
- Ability to quantify amounts registered on meters and charts accurately and maintain records of operations.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to operate equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Alertness. Dependability. Initiative. Sound judgment. Integrity.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED)
- Valid Kentucky driver's license.
- Work to achieve appropriate certification license as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear.
- Use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms.
- Perform repetitive movements of hands or wrist.
- Ability to work in inclement weather for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 25/50/75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.14 - $16.44 per hour
