The Facilities Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Palmer Municipal Golf Course pro shop. This role will focus on delivering exceptional customer service while assisting with a variety of tasks, including golf shop operations, merchandise sales, and other golf-related activities.

• Answer phones, schedule tee times, and respond to inquiries.
• Check in golfers and manage the tee sheet efficiently.
• Operate the point-of-sale system to process transactions accurately for merchandise, rentals, and services.
• Assist with merchandise sales, including providing product knowledge and recommendations for golf equipment and apparel.
• Assist with equipment rentals, such as golf carts and clubs, and oversee proper use and return.
• Provide information about the golf course, rules, and events, and answer customer inquiries.
• Perform light physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assisting with grounds maintenance or outdoor duties.
• Maintain accurate records of transactions, rentals, and inventory.
• Assist with opening and closing duties
• Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility.
• Perform additional duties as assigned. • High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Alaska State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Availability to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends as assigned.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of the golf game preferred.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and till reconciliation.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Customer service and retail experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team toward common goals.
Supervision Received:
General supervision is received from the Golf Course Manager.
Supervision Exercised:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
External Visibility:
This position involves high contact with the public as well as other Municipal employees and departments, requiring frequent interaction to provide information, offer assistance, and help ensure the smooth operation of the pro shop and golf course.
Working Conditions:
The Facilities Assistant works primarily indoors throughout the facility but may occasionally be required to perform light outdoor tasks. The role requires oral communication and regularly involves sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Facilities Assistant will use office equipment and electronics, the noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. The Facilities Assistant may be required to work evenings and/or weekends as assigned to support the operations of the pro shop and golf course.
