THE POSITION: This position is a member of Palm Springs International Airport and manages, reviews, oversees, and participates in the work of staff responsible for airport operations functions and activities; ensures work quality and adherences to established policies and procedures; and monitors and coordinates activities of air carriers, concessionaires and other users for compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

While this position will perform a full range of generalist duties, key areas of focus will include, but are not limited to: Airport Landside, Terminal and Transportation Operations, and Parking Services!
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage, review, oversee, and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintaining operational readiness at the Palm Springs International Airport.
- Serves as duty Airport Manager during shift tour of duty.
- Establish methods for providing tenant services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine and non-routine inspections of landside, airside, and terminal facilities and surrounding areas; ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations; issue Notices to Airmen (NOTAMS) as appropriate.
- Monitor noise database and respond to complaints.
- Responds to environmental accidents/incidents.
- Prepare, maintain, and review a variety of reports, records, and logs, including aircraft incident/accident reports and airfield condition reports.
- Perform and supervise the operation of a variety of airport security and operations equipment, including the security access control system (SACS) and the closed-circuit television system.
- Perform Airport ID Badging and Fingerprint duties as required.
- Respond to emergency situations; initiate airport emergency operations and response; operate emergency equipment; serve as the Incident Commander until relieved.
- Provides staff assistance to Operations Manager or Airport Security Coordinator; may participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
- Represent the Aviation department to other divisions, departments, and outside agencies.
- Participate in the selection of airport operations staff; provide or coordinate staff training with personnel assigned to the shift; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings.
- Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of airport operations, security, and construction.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Experience
- Three (3) years of experience at a Part 139 Commercial Service Airport or two (2) years of operations division experience at the Palm Springs International Airport is required.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience in an aviation environment is preferred.
- Previous direct working experience with Landside Operations management at a Part 139 Commercial Service Airport is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience at a Part 139 Commercial Service Airport is preferred.
Training
- High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
- A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in airport operations, aviation management, business administration, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Certified Member (C.M.) program or Accredited Airport Executive (A.C.E.) program credential through the American Association of Airport Executives preferred.

- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record (a driving record may be deemed unsatisfactory for any of the following reasons: three or more moving violations or reportable accident within the last three years; conviction of driving under the influence within the last five years) is required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, which is approved through the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a CPR Certification is required.
Special Requirements:
- Incumbents are enrolled in the California Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Pull Notice Program. The DMV Pull Notice Program provides information on the incumbent's driving record and driving record status on a periodic basis to the City.
- Must be willing and able to work various hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must successfully complete the necessary pre-employment/placement background investigation, physical, and drug screen.
