The City of Pacifica is seeking a Permit Technician to provide excellent customer service and technical support at the permit counter, ensuring residents and contractors receive clear guidance and efficient processing. Responsibilities
- Greet and assist the public, contractors, and staff at the permit counter.
- Receive, review, and process building and planning applications.
- Issue permits, calculate fees, and maintain accurate records.
- Research property and permit history; explain codes, ordinances, and requirements.
- Coordinate with planners, inspectors, and staff to ensure smooth permit processing.
- Perform data entry, prepare reports, and manage both digital and paper filing systems.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of administrative or clerical experience, ideally in permitting, planning, or building.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn permitting software.
- Knowledge of codes, zoning, and permitting processes desirable.
- Organized, accurate, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
