Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented custodian to join our team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our new Public Works Facilities. These Facilities include the Public Works Administration building, the Fleet and Facilities Maintenance building, and the Public Works Field Operations building. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong work ethic, takes pride in their work, and consistentley adheres to established cleaning and safety protocols. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Building Maintenance Supervisor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Salary:
$15.45 per hour
Benefits:
Pro-rated Sick Leave, Vacation & Holidays; does not include insurance benefits
Work Schedule:
- 25 hours per week
- Typically, 5 days per week to include weekends, 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Flexibility required for possible change from time to time
Essential Functions
May include but not limited to:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies, and ensure proper hygiene standards are maintained
- Empty trash and recycling bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Clean windows, walls, doors, and other surfaces as needed
- Set up and break down furniture or equipment for meetings, events, or special projects
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify management when supplies are low
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs promptly
- Follow all health and safety regulations and city policies
Perform other duties as assigned in a positive manner which supports the vision and strategic objectives of the division/department and the entire organization of the City of Owasso
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with good driving record
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical and mental tasks
- Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance record
Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work will be performed mostly in an indoor office setting; and also include outdoor grounds litter and debris pick-up. The work environment may include exposure to drafts; noise; dust; grease; etc.
Tasks require ability to lift/push/pull/ and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis; and occasionally more than 50 pounds with mechanical or manual assistance; and typically involve some combination of walking; standing or moving for extended periods of time; balancing; climbing; bending; crawling; crouching; feeling; handling; hearing; kneeling; reaching; repetitive motion; and mental and visual acuity.
