Description
The City of Overland Park has a full-time Supervisor, Visitor Services
and Events position available in the Parks and Recreation Department.
Summary
The Visitor Services &Events Supervisor will serve within the management
team at the Deanna Rose Childrens Farmstead. This position will
supervise events and manage front-of-house operations for the Farmstead,
including guest services, ticketing, memberships, rentals, and birthday
parties. Directly supervises personnel responsible for visitor services
and event operations, including the hiring, retention and training of
staff. The
Supervisor develops, plans, coordinates, promotes, and administers
City-sponsored Farmstead special events, as well as those in partnership
with
the Friends of the Farmstead (FOF).
Responsibilities
Supervises Farmstead entrance to include guest services, ticketing,
memberships, and front of house operations. Recruits and develops
part-time
and full-time employees to ensure effective operations in these areas.
Coordinates with Farmstead personnel to plan, promote and administer
City-sponsored Farmstead special events. Coordinates with Friends of the
Farmstead and Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park (ARFOP) in
regards to sponsorship, fundraising, and member programs.
Represents the City at FOF fundraising committee meetings and events.
In coordination with the ARFOP Communications team and the City of
Overland Park Communications team, plans, develops and coordinates all
marketing plans for events and activities at the Farmstead. Reviews,
updates, designs, and writes information publicizing and marketing
events
and activities on the City\'s website.
Provides direct support to the Friends of the Farmstead by creating and
maintaining budgets, assisting in identifying, writing and submitting
grants, and preparing annual reports for FOF.
Manages group reservations for various events, including birthday
parties, corporate gatherings, and school trips.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all
assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially
during
regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates,
supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization
with
which interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of
performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and
work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled
work breaks, where applicable.
Requirements
EDUCATION &SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor\'s degree in Event Management, Parks and Recreation or Public
Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of appropriate and valid driver\'s license.
Must maintain an insurable driving record.
Experience
Three years\' experience in event management, parks and recreation or
related fields.
