As the Administrative Intern also referred to as the Finance Intern, your primary duties will be to assist in and complete a wide variety of administrative, technical, and relevant assignments in support of the Financial Services Agency. The Finance Intern performs entry level analytical work under the mentorship of experienced professionals. In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn about and experience all the functions performed by our Financial Services Team.
The Administrative Intern is a part-time/temporary position, scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week, and is not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans.

The Financial Services Agency provides support services to the citizens and businesses of Ontario, as well as to City Departments, with financial, budget development, procurement, accounting, payroll, and revenue services. The Agency's service objective is to direct the financial affairs of the City of Ontario, under the direction provided by the Mayor and City Council through their goals and objectives, in a timely, accurate, cost effective, and efficient manner. Financial Services Agency includes the following divisions: Accounting, Accounts Payable, Business License/Central Cashiering, Budget/Revenue/Grant Management, Accounts Receivable, Investments, Debt Management, Payroll, Purchasing, and Special Districts/ Development Impact Fee (DIF) Administration.

The essential functions typically performed by the Administrative Intern assigned to the Financial Services Agency include the following:
- Assists members of the management, professional and technical staff by performing administrative assignments.
- Performs preliminary administrative analysis on financial data and assists in the preparation of financial reports.
- Gathers and tabulates data.
- Reviews and summarizes publications and documents.
- Responds to requests for information.
Education
Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college with major course work in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

Licenses
Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment are required.
Desirable
Current enrollment in upper division courses of a bachelor's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous work or internship experience with a municipality or government agency.
