- Employ Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist in locating incidents and dispatching units effectively.
- Manage conflicts with callers in a calm and effective manner, ensuring clear communication.
- Dispatch police units based on established protocols, ensuring timely response to incidents.
- Analyze incoming information to provide accurate updates to responding officers.
- Maintain detailed records of calls received, actions taken, and outcomes achieved.
- Stay informed about local laws, regulations, and department policies relevant to dispatch operations.
Experience
- Previous experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification in emergency dispatch or equivalent training is a plus.
- First aid certification is desirable for handling medical emergencies over the phone.
