Definition:

Under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor Sports, is responsible for a variety of recreation activities in an indoor and/or outdoor recreation center. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leads a variety of recreational activities in a recreation center; oversees assigned functional areas of the center such as the gymnasium, athletic field, or playground; reports to the Recreation Supervisor on activities, plans, and problems; recommends action, and carries out policies in dealing with specific groups; oversees the use of equipment and supplies. 

Requirements:

Special training or experience in the type of activities to be directed; personal skills in the leadership of several broad types of recreational activities. 

Knowledge of: The problems involved in the leadership of several broad types of recreation activities. 

Ability to: Read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position; promote and organize recreation programs; give individualized instruction to participants; enforce safety precautions and give first aid in the event of a mishap; establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates, and the public. The applicant must be at least 16 years of age by June 15^th, 2019.

Physical Demands:

Position requires employee to: Continuously stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms; frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.; and occasionally sit. Special Vision requirements: Close, distance, peripheral, and ability to adjust focus. 

Work Environment:

Position requires employee to: Continuously work in outdoor weather conditions; and occasionally work in high precarious places.
