Description
- Participate in the preparation of layout work required for the paving of streets, alleys, sidewalks, parking lots and related structures.
- Participate in the running of levels, lines and setting of grades for sidewalks, streets, alleys sewer mains, and water mains.
- Inspect the work of contractors on municipal construction projects and enforce adherence to plans and specifications.
- Be familiar with the operation of surveying and engineering equipment as required.
- Participate in the performance of preliminary surveys for such engineering projects as
- Respond to citizen complaints and concerns regarding streets, sewers, sidewalks and the water system. Ensure that appropriate action is taken.
- Assist in the preparation of plans for municipal engineering projects.
- Assist in creating contract documents for the construction of municipal engineering projects
- Be familiar with AutoCad computer aided design/ drafting software and perform miscellaneous drafting as required.
- Make blueprints, draw maps, plans and sketches from field notes and preliminary sketches.
- Generate and maintain accurate engineering records and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to assemble, prepare and maintain correspondence, records, and reports.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with the public.
- Ability to take direction and perform all duties assigned.
- Engineering or construction background preferred
- Degree from an accredited high school.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
- Working in areas under construction.
- Field conditions which consist of unpaved sites, muddy, dusty areas and potential dangerous environment.
- Ability to kneel, stoop, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
