What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard - Morning Shift position at City of O'Fallon?
The City of O'Fallon is looking for energetic and dependable team members for the position of Lifeguard for the morning and daytime shifts. Are you looking for a part-time opportunity where you can use your skills in decision making, problem solving and dealing with the public? Our Lifeguards enjoy a flexible schedule along with a fun work environment. Earn competitive pay with an expected starting rate of pay of $14.85 hourly, with opportunity of increase every 750 hours worked.
As part of our Recreation Department, this position plays an important role in the safety of the patrons of Renaud Center in and around the pool. Generally, you'll work daytime schedules approximately 25 hours per week.
As a Lifeguard, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Enforcing rules and policies
- Attending in-service training to remain certified
- Providing first aid when needed
- Cleaning the pool deck and vacuuming the pool
- Ensuring restrooms and guard office are clean
- Testing pool chemicals
- Providing information and top notice customer service to patrons
We're looking for someone who is a great communicator and interested in learning a variety of practical water skills, including water rescue. This person should be able to easily learn department policies and procedures, including pool operation guidelines and principles and the use of pool chemicals. Availability to work evenings and weekend shifts is required.

Applicants must:
- Have, or have the ability to attain Jeff Ellis and Associates Lifeguard License. (In-house certification training is available.)
- Have, or have the ability to attain First Aid and CPR certification
- The ability to lift 50 pounds, swim 200 yards, submerge self feet first in 15 feet of water
- Be at least 15 years of age
