An Engineering Associate is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!
This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Public Works - Development and Flood Control department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The salary range for the position is $3,217.24 bi-weekly. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36-hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.
THE ROLE
Plans, coordinates and performs engineering work, including reviewing various land development submittals, conducting engineering feasibility studies, performing design work for construction projects and environmental/conservation programs; performs professional level engineering planning, and design for a variety of projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.
- Two (2) or more years of progressively complex and responsible related work experience with knowledge and familiarity in the theories and principals for application to practical problems and solutions.
- Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Possession of State of Nevada Registered Engineer Certificate. If licensed in another state, registration in the state of Nevada within one (1) year of hire/reclassification
- Prefer Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification (Traffic Option Only)
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail, Minimum passing score is 75%- All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%):
- Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
