Job Description
This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: H.S. Diploma or equivalent. One year of experience driving a medium size duty truck pulling a medium size trailer, operation of a front load truck, or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
License and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brakes, and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
Knowledge: Operation and maintenance of medium and heavy size duty truck. Employee and vehicle safety rules and regulations.
Skills: Operation of medium size duty truck which pulls a medium size trailer, refuse collection trucks including automated side loader (ASL) and rear loader (REL) residential collection trucks, commercial front loaders (FEL), and roll offs (R/0). Operation of front load truck, rear load truck, and roll-off truck. Basic mathematics. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing duties.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 90% of the work day. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (50-75 lb.). Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
Additional Information: Selected applicant must pass physical examination, drug screen, and background investigation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions: Drives a medium size duty truck which pulls a medium size recycling trailer to and from designated recycling centers, operates front load truck collecting, hauling and dumping cardboard. Completes standardized forms and records according to departmental procedures. Maintains records on the volume of materials collected and sold; maintains appropriate records such as equipment maintenance and repair records. Manually cleans unwanted trash and other debris from recycling products. Washes trucks weekly; washes recycling trailers after each use. Works in a manner safe to the individual and other people; follows safety rules and safe work practices; uses safety equipment as required.
Other Major Responsibilities: Conducts minor maintenance on designated vehicles and equipment. Performs related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme weather temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors.
