Maintenance Worker II (Ground Support Technician - Fleet

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Ability to understand, follow and/or provide verbal and written instructions or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to perform the majority of work under indirect supervision.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record, Oklahoma De-partment of Agriculture Pesticide Service Technician License within 12 months of employment.

Knowledge: Hand and power tools. Grounds maintenance tools.

Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees and citizens while performing duties.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) and heavy (50-75 lb.) supplies, materials, and debris frequently. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs grounds maintenance duties around the City’s Northbase facility. Mows and waters grass. Trims and waters trees, shrubs and hedges. Operates weed-eater, edger’s, and blowers. Places mulch around flower beds and shrubs. Cleans and maintains Fleet wash bays. Empties trash receptacles, cleans vacuums and area around the City’s two (2) fuel islands daily. Takes fuel readings of the Unleaded/Diesel dispensers and delivers reports to Ad-min. Tech. Cleans City facilities, picks up trash and other debris as needed. Rakes leaves and removes snow from walkways and applies snow/ice melt product. Operates chainsaws, trimmers, pole nippers, and UTV cart. Re-moves limbs and stumps and properly disposes of debris. Fills and packs holes. Drive pickup trucks and pull small trailers, haul small equipment. Assists in shuttling vehicles to outside vendors or as needed. Perform emergency cleanup of a City bus and the City’s bus transfer station in the event of a health hazard report. Presents a clean and favorable image while interfacing with citizens and City contractors in person regarding minor complaints or questions and assists as needed. Inspects equipment for safety hazards before use. Fills in for the Fleet Service Writer during scheduled absences. Works in a manner safe to the individual and public. Assist other Fleet employees with their duties as needed. Follows safety rules. Uses safety equipment as required. Keeps work area clean and safe. May be required to perform Lead Worker functions to seasonal or part-time employees. Performs related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. Exposure to hazards associated with equipment, machinery, upgraded terrain around facility grounds, and moving vehicles and equipment on and around roadways. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
