What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker II - Wastewater/Linework Crew position at City of Norfolk?
The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.
This is an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Digs and refills trenches and other excavations; cuts asphalt and concrete; maintains lawns.
- Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment and chemicals.
- Maintain and repair underground wastewater service lines, cleaning work areas, perform related maintenance duties.
- Transports materials and personnel to work sites.
- Climbs stairs and ladders; bends, stoops, pushes, pulls, lifts and carries up to 75 lbs.; may stand for more than six hours.
- Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials and work tasks.
- Requires ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.
