What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compensation Analyst, Senior position at City of Norfolk?
- Serves as a subject matter expert in city policies related to compensation functions, civil service commission rules, and the City’s Compensation Plan
- Prepares recommendations regarding the annual budget process as it pertains to compensation-related initiatives
- Analyze market trends and industry standards to evaluate class specifications ensuring they align with organizational needs
- Review and research department requests for reorganization of a division or bureau. Prepares comprehensive report of findings and recommendations
- Advises management on applicable federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations
- Analyze compensation trends in the industry, present findings, and makes recommendations. Responsible for maintaining and updating the city’s data in survey software
- Reviews salary related request for senior and executive positions. Conducts analysis and provides a recommendation
- Provides subject matter expertise on complex and sensitive queries and concerns received in the team-shared inbox
- Identifies compensation best practices and continuous improvement activities to help streamline and standardize processes
- Provides coaching, mentoring and support to the Compensation Analyst I and II
- Perform other duties by participating on special project teams, having the ability to serve as a team facilitator, and meeting with department leaders to discuss compensation strategies
- Conducts research, analysis, and studies to address concerns related to compensation; recommends or initiates programs or actions to resolve concerns and enhance services. Partners with management and HR specialty areas to objectively assess and diagnose business problems, develop and deliver tailored, culturally appropriate solutions to organizational needs
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Seven years of experience working directly in the areas of employee compensation and classification or closely related experience
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, and strong in data management.
Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time$5000 sign on bonus.
Salary : $66,497 - $111,405
