Overview
Under the direction of the Solid Waste Supervisor, this position performs customer service,
weighing operations, recordkeeping, and general maintenance duties at the Transfer Station
Scale House.
Essential Duties
- Open and close the scale house.
- Weigh customers in and out and inspect loads for prohibited waste.
- Maintain trailer weight records and communicate with station operators by radio.
- Handle cash transactions, balance the cash drawer, and prepare deposits.
- Answer customer questions in person and by phone.
- Operate computers and office equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the scale house and adjacent grounds.
- Provide directions for disposal and refer customers to appropriate recycling resources.
- Clear snow and debris from scale decks and walkways.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to identify unacceptable wastes (training provided).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Proficient in handling cash, maintaining computerized records, and preparing reports.
Pay: $19.68 - $27.92 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
