About the Role
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Division Chief oversees and develops training, safety, and professional
development programs for Fire and EMS personnel. As part of the senior command staff, this position
ensures operational readiness, compliance, and continuous improvement across all divisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage department-wide Fire & EMS training programs
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Develop and maintain accreditation standards
• Oversee HIPAA compliance, infection control, and quality assurance
• Coordinate with colleges, regional agencies, and medical directors
• Assist with budget management, grants, and strategic planning
• Represent the Fire Department at City, regional, and public events
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible fire rescue experience
• Four (4) years as an officer at the rank of Lieutenant or higher
Required Certifications
• NREMT Certified Paramedic (or equivalent)
• Firefighter II (or equivalent)
• Fire Officer I (Fire Officer II preferred)
• Fire Instructor I (Fire Instructor II preferred)
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
Out-of-state equivalents accepted — must obtain Florida certifications within one year of appointment.
