Position Overview
The New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor is seeking an experienced, hands-on Fiscal Manager to manage a broad range of accounting, budgeting, and financial responsibilities.
We are looking for a well-rounded accounting professional who is comfortable wearing multiple hats. The ideal candidate can manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities while also preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, resolving discrepancies, and helping leadership understand the financial position of the Yacht Harbor.
This position is well suited for an accountant who enjoys variety, ownership, problem-solving, and working across multiple areas of an organization's financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections.
- Perform bank, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage and support monthly financial close.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and present financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with annual operating and capital budget preparation.
- Monitor actual revenues and expenditures against budget.
- Maintain expenditure and budgetary control accounts.
- Manage accounting activity related to Yacht Harbor rentals, leases, purchases, and contracts.
- Review invoices, payments, journal entries, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Maintain prepaid expense and other balance sheet schedules.
- Track revenues, expenditures, commitments, and available funds.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting.
- Perform financial analysis and special projects as needed.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend solutions.
- Help improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.
- Use QuickBooks and other financial systems to record, reconcile, analyze, and report financial information.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced accounting professional who is:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable managing multiple accounting functions.
- Experienced with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Experienced with month-end close.
- Strong in bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Knowledgeable in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Comfortable with invoicing and collections.
- Able to prepare and analyze financial statements.
- Experienced with budgeting and financial analysis.
- Proficient with Excel and financial software.
- Able to identify discrepancies and independently work toward solutions.
- Able to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Comfortable balancing recurring accounting responsibilities with unexpected financial or administrative needs.
Experience in governmental accounting, public-sector finance, property management, marina operations, hospitality, leasing, or a similar environment is helpful.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university;
OR
A Bachelor's Degree in any field with at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of accounting and/or finance coursework.
Experience
Four (4) years of full-time professional experience providing professional accounting, collections of accounts, and budget management services.
