This position is responsible for the part-time day-to-day operation of the Transit Bus for elderly and disabled patrons, transport to medical and other appointments, nursing homes, nutrition meal sites, and shopping.
Requires experience or the ability to learn the operation of the transit bus and related equipment. Experience in public relations or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
- Considerable knowledge of defensive driving techniques.
- Knowledge in the basic mechanical operation of the bus and other vehicular equipment.
- Ability to drive bus safely and on schedule in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read and understand GPS maps and directions.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees and to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Ability to comply with the City Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Ability to effectively deal with ADA service requirements in a safe, effective manner.
- Reliability in attendance and promptness in reporting to work.
- Skill in record keeping, handling money and document organization (using Microsoft Office Suite)
- Operate office equipment such as computer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc.

- Transport elderly/disabled citizens to and from various appointments within city limits.
- Inspect and document daily vehicle pre-trip/post-trip inspection logs; lights, brakes, tires, etc.
- Maintain daily records of vehicle transports.
- Operate vehicle wheelchair lift, secure wheel chair or scooter.
- Collect and maintain funds donated from transports.
- Assure all work is done in conformance of City safety standards.

Must have a valid WI Driver's License without limitations.
Must be certified in CPR/First Aid, or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a 12 passenger bus during all weather conditions. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds several times during the course of an 8 hour shift. Requires activities such as standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, driving, physically controlling another person, and climbing stairs.
